ADVANCED KITTIWAKE SIMULATOR by R-Tape for ZX Spectrum 48K
This is the situation: It is the year H7KK20 (the numbering system has changed in the future) and most of the population has moved to Hyper-Cities, which are cities that have grown to enormous sizes. What was once the village of Scarborough is now a mass of skyscrapers joined together. The nearby star V-22A-8D-E-7R+ has become a supernova, producing cosmic rays that have overcome Earth's natural defences. However, this only affects the portion of the sky covering Scarborough. This radiation has caused an unexpected mutation in the local seagulls. They have grown to the size of a car, and their droppings are corrosive and explosive. The population is terrified.
With this disturbing premise, R-Tape introduces us to a destruction scenario:
We mutated and then took flight.
You can see (and fear) the size of the mutant seagull compared to the width of the skyscrapers and, even worse, the enormous size of its... ahem... bombardment:
It's no surprise that each one sweeps away an entire floor.
Of course, you were right to realise immediately that this is an adapted version of City Bomber.
But much more terrifying.
If we crash into a building, goodbye kittiwake.
And, as we advance through the levels, the buildings get taller and taller. If the danger is in the air, shouldn't they build underground? Well, that's humanity, I'm afraid.
When you play, don't think I'm a skilled bomber who has reached the final level. In reality, I've struggled to get past the first one. It's very difficult. Luckily, the Human Resources department gave me the contact details for Avelach, Lord of Chaos on the Isle of Avalon, who was kind enough (after I gave him a rare book of spells and pokes) to reveal the magic words to access the game's secrets, which I am making available to all of you (but don't tell him):
And so...
If we put together everything that comes out of the bird: After a magnificent loading screen, we can enjoy a perfectly playable and entertaining version of City Bomber. It's a simple and very entertaining game. My reflexes don't allow me to get very far, perhaps the difficulty could be relaxed a little, but that's the only issue.
